The Painted Horse has a Name!March 2006

The winning name of EquiMania!'s, "Name the Painted Horse Contest", a full size fibre glass horse painted with remarkable anatomical detail was announced at the Can-Am Equine Emporium on Wednesday, March 15, 2006.

Gayle Ecker, Senior Manager, Equine Guelph, with the help of Ruth Benns, artist of the Painted Horse, unveiled the winning name, SeeMore and introduced the winner, Mary Prescott. Mary, 12 years old and from Guelph, Ontario, was present with her mother, Leona and brother and sisters, Jonathon, Dinah and Sarah to accept her prize, which included, a family pass for 4 to the Can-Am Equine Emporium and one night accommodation, courtesy of Can-Am Equine Emporium. After enjoying their day at Can-Am, Mary and her brother and sisters settled in for a fast-paced game of Horse-Opoly on their new Bucus picnic blanket, also included in the generous prize package.

When asked why "SeeMore", Mary explained "I chose the name SeeMore because I thought that the name suited him. If you look at him, you will know what I mean." "I hope that SeeMore will help people to learn more about horses so they can be cared for properly" Mary added. The winning name was chosen from over 200 entries.

Youth visiting this year's Can Am Equine Emporium got the opportunity to meet SeeMore in EquiMania!'s Education Centre. The next scheduled stops for the Education Centre are the Schomberg Fair (May 27), Woodbine Racetrack, (weekends through July and August) and Grand River Raceway (August 7). Visit the EquiMania! website for more information on these and other upcoming events.
