Description:Assistant Barn Manager – Monday to Friday 7:30 to 4:00 p.m. Crailin Stables accommodates 29 horses and our team is active and competitive on the provincial (Ontario) and national “A” circuit in show/jumping.
The successful applicant will be responsible for our “at home” daily operation of the facility. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Administering our feed program to ensure horses are in top condition
• Daily handling of horses including turnout and lunging
• Maintaining stalls to ensure proper health, safety, and hygiene of horses
• Ordering supplies/feed/bedding
• Administering equine first aid and medications, as directed
• Working with veterinarian(s) and farrier
• Grooming and tacking up horses to be ridden by our professional riders
• Putting away horses after they have been ridden
• Body clipping and mane pulling
• Ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility and property

While we strive to provide a regular work schedule and time off, the successful applicant must be open to a flexible work schedule, especially during show season (April to September).
Competitive pay (commensurate with experience) with a comprehensive benefits package will be offered. This is NOT a live-in position.
The successful candidate must be a positive team player, be responsible and reliable. We are looking for a person with the following skills and abilities:
• Good knowledge of basic equine first-aid and nutrition
• Lunging experience
• Experience with the handling of young horses
• Grooming, clipping and bandaging
• Good people skills to relate well with management, co-workers and clients
• Must be detail oriented and organized

This a physically demanding job that requires the ability to lift hay bales and feed bags (up to 50 lbs.)
