Horses help feed humans

Pioneer Days 1800’s

Horses became an important partner for people, in plowing fields, transporting feed and merchandise that people needed to live.  Pioneers depended on horses for all this and more.  During the 1800’s horses were also important for a time in delivering mail!

In the U.S., horses were used to take mail across the country, with the letters tucked away in saddle bags.  Riders and horses braved many threats and perils including extreme weather conditions, outlaws and bandits, wild animals and lots of saddle sores!

Do some research of your own on how horses have helped with plowing fields and delivering mail and you will see how amazing horses really are!
