First Equine Science Certificate Scholarship Awarded!June 2005

One scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in the Equine Science Certificate program. The scholarship is awarded based on a combination of academic achievement and a 500-word essay submission describing the value of the Equine Science Certificate program and how it has helped the student with their own horse(s). A third-party committee including educators and horse industry members marked the essays. Congratulations to everyone who applied, as the essays were all top caliber.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Hazel Plumbley of Kamloops, British Columbia is the recipient of the first Equine Science Certificate scholarship. The adjudicators felt Hazel's essay was concise and contained elegant prose that highlighted positive global effects of good horsemanship as well as immediate, "right at the barn" issues.
